Even though we’ve crossed over to a new month, Happy February btw! The year is still young. In this post, I will share ten affordable and amazing products to start your 2025 right. What I like most about these products is they can be found locally and are affordable, which is always a plus. Let’s get into it.

  1. Vaseline Aloe Soothe Lotion

My favorite thing about Vaseline lotions is how thick and moisturizing they are. Amongst the available scents, the Vaseline aloe soothe lotion is the winner in my eyes. Apart from its thickness and ability to leave your skin moisturized for 48 hours, it has a light, clean, and fresh scent. Plus, aloe vera comes with tons of benefits like soothing irritated skin, treating wounds and injuries, and keeping your skin healthy. Also, it’s 3X oil-infused serum will leave your skin glowing. A 400ml bottle like this one goes for Ksh. 450 – 590 at your nearest local supermarket.

2. Nimo Naturals Hyaluronic Acid Face Cream

I have mentioned this moisturizer in past posts like the ‘A simple 5-step daytime skincare routine using affordable Kenyan products’ & ‘Quarter four product empties you should try in 2025’ and I bet I’ll keep mentioning it over and over. This moisturizer has ingredients like hyaluronic acid, sweet almond oil, and glycerine that keep your skin moisturized. It is also lightweight, thus doesn’t leave your skin with that annoying greasy feel. It is also unscented and therefore amazing for all skin types, especially if you have sensitive skin. A jar goes for Ksh.1000 from Nimo Naturals.

3. Vaseline Petroleum Jelly

Vaseline petroleum Jelly is a must-have on any vanity table. It’s a product that has existed for a long time and is still widely used globally, with good reason. One fascinating thing about Vaseline is that it’s non-comedogenic. This means that it won’t clog your pores when applied to your skin, especially if applied on the face. Vaseline can be used for a variety of reasons such as moisturizing your skin, as a lip balm, treating small cuts and minor burns, and more. A jar ranges from Ksh.70 – 590 , depending on the size.

4. Bic Miss Soleil Razors

One of the most annoying and painful things to get is razor bumps, as a result of using razors with blunt blades. Some razors’ blades are so sharp and come way too close to your skin, that you end up injuring yourself. Then comes in Bic Soleil razors. They come in a twin pack and they’re pink! Each razor has three sharp blades and it also has a lubricating strip enriched with vitamin E to give your skin that smooth shave. The twin pack as shown below is Ksh.240 and can be found in most local supermarkets.

5. Alison’s Coconut & Olive Hair Oil

This oil smells like heaven. Most people avoid coconut oil because the strong coconut smell is not as appealing. However, this oil has that coconut smell, but it’s not as overpowering. It smells sweet and delicious like a yummy dessert. It is also moisturizing to your hair strands and keeps your scalp healthy. A bottle goes for Ksh. 390 in your local supermarket.

6. Nice & Lovely Sunflower Seed Oil & Lemon Extract Lotion

This is my recent amazing product discovery and I choose to not gatekeep! Nice & Lovely stood on business with this lotion scent. Similar but slightly different to the Vaseline Aloe Soothe lotion, this lotion has a fresh and citrusy smell, with a slight whiff of floral, probably from the sunflower oil. The sunflower oil and lemon extract go together amazingly well, and the scent lasts for a pretty decent length of time during the day. A bottle goes for Ksh.175 – 250 depending on the size.

7. Vaseline Lip Therapy Lip Balm

Still on the Vaseline train, one of the best lip balms there are out here is the Vaseline lip therapy ones, especially the cocoa butter one as shown below. Dry and cracked lips are a no-no and this lip balm keeps your lips soft, moisturized, and healthy. If lip gloss or lipstick isn’t your thing, but you want your lips to still pop, you can go for a small tub. You can find it both in your local supermarket and even online on Jumia. It goes for around Ksh. 385.

8. Nimo Naturals Sunscreen

A recent discovery as well, did you know Nimo Naturals has a sunscreen?! Now, my morning skincare routine is all products from Nimo Naturals! This sunscreen is non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog your pores, it has an SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of 50+, it protects your skin from both UVA & UVB sun rays, and most importantly, it doesn’t leave a white cast! This sunscreen was created in Kenya and curated for Kenyan babes like you and me. The 50ml bottle goes for Ksh. 1800 from Nimo Naturals.

9. Garnier Antiperspirant

I mentioned this product as part of my quarter four empties and highly recommended it. With this, I smell fresh all day, my clothes stay sweat stain-free and white deodorant stain-free, it’s affordable only Ksh.280-350. Also, the yellow one as pictured evens out your underarms when used consistently over time.

10. Yenbu Vanilla Shower Gel

Finally, let’s talk about the Yenbu Vanilla & Yoghurt shower gel. Who doesn’t love vanilla-scented products? I know I don’t! I absolutely adore anything vanilla, including this shower gel. It is thick and lathers easily so a little goes a long way, cleans your skin without stripping dry, and is quite moisturizing. The scent despite being slight, is quite lovely. A bottle goes for Ksh. 360.

And that makes ten! Thank you for taking the time to read through this post. The next time you go shopping, add one, two, or all the items I mentioned in this list, as per your needs, of course.

Till the next post!
